The Yamuna or Jamna / Jamuna river has flooded over this year (June 2013) and now threatens (like it ought to do!) the flood plain which is it's natural monsoon river-bank, with a wider inundation. Several developments, condoned and actively encouraged by the Indian government, have cropped up on the river's banks and on its flood plains. These include the Akshardham Temple (religion always trumps everything in India) and the Commonwealth Games flats (promoted by Emaar MGF) which have flouted all environmental concerns with impunity.

The result? Government officials got one-time facilitation to clear the files? Long time impact? The temple and flats will be swept away by the river, as is it's wont! Visit them now and you will see why - the river has travelled one kilometers to the last bundh before the temple and is about to breach its boundary and sweep all these developments away!

Score - Nature - 1 and Man - 0

The Delhi Metro continues to run its course over the swollen and angry river!
