Cathedral Church of the Redemption also known as Viceroy Church, is among the most beautiful and magnificent churches in India. The church is located east of Parliament House in New Delhi and Rashtrapati Bhavan which was used by then British Viceroy. The Church resembles the shape of a birthday cake with a candle placed on top. The Church derives its name from Palladio's Church of Il Redentore in Veniceas well as Lutyens St Jude's Church, Hampstead Garden Suburb. The Cathedral Church of the Redemption India, is a part of the Delhi diocese of the Church of North India.
Cathedral was designed by Henry Medd. Cathedral was built in such a manner that even in the extreme summers it remains cool and serene. The Church has beautifully curved high arches and delicate domes, which won the heart of the then Viceroy Lord Irwin, Lord irwin gifted an organ and a silver Cross to the Church.

The Cathedral Church of the Redemption traces its origin to the early 1900s. when Rev. T.R. Dixon was appointed as the Chaplain to meet the spiritual needs of the British officers in the Capital of India. The Cathedral was built in eight years and was completed in the year 1935. The Cathedral Church was opened to public worship on Sunday, 18 January 1931.
