A man enjoying a beach holiday in Turkey didn’t believe his eyes at first, but soon realized that he’d come upon a two-headed dolphin.

Dolphins are among humans’ favorite animals, so it’s not uncommon for people to stop and watch them when they show up close to shore.

That’s exactly what a man on vacation in the Izmir district of Turkey did when he saw some dolphin activity nearing the beach. He was quite surprised, however, when he got a closer look.

He didn’t believe his eyes at first, but soon realized that he was looking at a two-headed creature.

Sadly, the animal had died before it washed up onto the sand.

More than a bit shocked by the whole thing, and said at first he had no idea how to react to it.

Eventually, the man called the police.

They removed the corpse and had it taken to be looked over by a specialist.

According to reports, one of the conjoined mammals had underdeveloped eyes and a closed blowhole.

The body shared by the twins measured just over 3-feet long and it’s believed they were about a year old.

Said the marine biologist who will be examining the dolphins, "Such a dolphin is a very rare occurrence - similar to the occurrence of conjoined human twins."
