American actor and comedian Robin Williams has been found dead at his California home in a suspected suicide. He was 63.
Williams had suffered from bouts of depression and had struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism.
Hollywood has been shocked at the death of who many describe as one of the most inventive comedians of his time.
Singer Lady Gaga tweeted: “...Perhaps this tragedy will shed light on the seriousness of depression. You made us all so so happy.”
Williams earned his sole Oscar for his portrayal of a fatherly therapist in the 1997 drama “Good Will Hunting.”
He earned four Academy Award nominations, the first for his portrayal of US Army radio host Adrian Cronauer during the Vietnam War in “Good Morning, Vietnam.”
He received nominations for coming-of-age drama “Dead Poets Society” and “The Fisher King.”
Williams will appear in the upcoming film “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” playing the statue of American politician Teddy Roosevelt who comes alive at night, and Christmas comedy “Merry Friggin’ Christmas.”
