Here is another great piece interpreted by this hardly known jazzband from Belgium. No wonder, since the group existed only one year, before leader Remue went to play in London for the Savoy Orpheans. It's a pity the band was so short-lived, for they were among the best European jazz bands of the 20's. Accordingly, they most definitely deserved a second post. Fortunately we still have the recordings made during two sessions in 1927. Besides leader Remue, also playing clarinet and alto saxophone, personnel included: Harry Belein, drums and glockenspiel; Stan Brenders, piano; Alphonse Cox, cornet; Gaston Frédéric, clarinet and tenor saxophone; Remy Glorieux, bass brass and Henri Léonard, trombone. The present, 1927 recording is particularly interesting because it may well be the only version of this composition, of which the complete title is "Allahabad (Pearl Of The East)".
