The Canadian pop star chatted online with education activist Malala Yousafzai, and later posted a screen shot of their conversation to his online followers.

Lately, Justin Bieber has only been in the news for some of his less-than-savory activities.

Perhaps looking to turn over a new leaf, 20-year-old Bieber recently FaceTimed with 17-year-old education activist Malala Yousafzai.

Yousafzai is an outspoken advocate for girls' rights and survived an assassination attempt by the Pakistani Taliban in 2012.

Bieber took a screenshot of their FaceTime, and posted it to his Instagram and Twitter accounts, along with the caption, "Just got to FaceTime with Malala Yousafzai. She has such an incredible story. I can't wait to meet her in person and talk about how I can support her and the @malalafund. #love "

It's unclear what the two discussed and what future plans, if any, were made, including an in-person meeting.

This conversation happened soon after Bieber made headlines for getting in a fight with actor Orlando Bloom.

Bieber has used his celebrity for good too, helping grant the wishes of more than 200 Make-A-Wish Foundation recipients.

Meanwhile, Yousafzai has been busy helping girls all over the world attend school through her Malala Fund.

Yousafzai had confided in an interview last year with CNN that she was a fan of Bieber's.
