Over the past decade, sub-Saharan African countries have seen a staggering level of growth. So perhaps itβs no surprise that the US has been holding an unprecedented summit, hosting leaders from some 50 African countries. President Obama has unveiled a raft of US investments in the continent to the tune of $33 billion. So has the summit had the desired effect, and is all this a desperate game of catch-up by the US, losing ground and influence to China on the continent?
