Saturn recently got photobombed by the moon.

After the Queen got into the whole photobombing thing, it was hard to imagine anything could top that.

Well, now even the celestial bodies are getting into the act.

If you happened to be in Western Australia on Monday, you could have watched our moon photobomb Saturn.

Such an event itself is not that rare but the images captured by astronomers and general public are truly remarkable.

Dr. Bruce Betts director of Science and Technology at the Planetary Society commented to ABC News - "It's a cool observational event."
"A small telescope could see the rings of Saturn. The naked eye could see [the planet] disappear behind the moon and reappear on the other side."

Slooh astronomer Bob Berman noted "it's quite dramatic when it involves a bright photogenic object like Saturn, whose rings are now nearly optimally tilted...with striking detail visible on the foreground Moon and the background planet.. a true photobomb moment"

These events involving moon and saturn are known as occultations and will take place for a total of 13 times this year.
