LONDON: Bahria Town C.E.O Malik Riaz Hussain , has been recognized in the House of Lords for his “outstanding philanthropic humanitarian services” for Pakistan.
United International Communities Forum (UICF-UK) organised an event here in honour of Malik Riaz Hussain to commend his charitable work and to show support for his help of the needy and poor.
UICF Chairman Shahzada Hayat, Labour MP Khalid Mahmood and Lord Qurban Hussain attended the tribute event and made speeches supporting Malik Riaz ’s positive contribution for the noble causes in Pakistan. Members of British Pakistani charity organisations and representatives of many social and political organisations were also in attendance.
Shahzada Hayat presented the “Service to Humanity Award” to Malik Riaz Hussain on behalf of the British Pakistani community. Malik Riaz Hussain told the audience that he has not invested a penny outside Pakistan and all his wealth was in Pakistan and “will always remain there”.
He said that he knows about the sufferings of common people more than those rich people who have never experienced like him what hunger, deprivation and poverty is. He said he was born into a house where it was difficult for his parents to make both ends meet.
Malik Riaz Hussain said that Pakistan had thousands of millionaires who had made their wealth in Pakistan and “if all of them became socially and morally responsible towards Pakistan then Pakistan’s almost 70 percent problems would be over. But that’s not the case because the rich class only believes in making money out of Pakistan and not giving anything back to it”.
He called on the rich people of Pakistan to come forward and play their positive role to end divide in the society or else there will be chaos and no one will be spared by the angry masses. Shahzada Hayat, President UICF (UK), said that Malik Riaz Hussain is the Bill Gates of Asia.
Lord Qurban Hussain said that overseas Pakistanis have always supported Pakistan through remittances and donations but people within Pakistan need to play their role more effectively and follow the example of Malik Riaz by giving their money for the social welfare projects aimed at helping the poor people.
