Nigeria confirms first deadly Ebola case

In Nigeria, health officials have confirmed that a Liberian man who died in Lagos was infected with the deadly Ebola virus.

The incident is the first case of the disease in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country.

Reportedly in his 40s, the man, a consultant for Liberia’s finance ministry, collapsed on his arrival at the city’s airport on Sunday and later died in quarantine.

Since February, some 660 people have been killed by Ebola, which has spread across a large swathe of West Africa. The outbreak is the world’s deadliest to date.

Elsewhere in Sierra Leone, a hunt has been launched for a women with Ebola. It’s being reported that she was forcibly removed from a hospital by her family in the country’s capital Freetown.
