The sky fills with smoke as flames leap into the air.

Taliban insurgents set fire to around 200 oil tanker trucks supplying fuel for NATO forces in Aghanistan.

(SOUNDBITE) (Dari) OWNER OF OIL TANKERS, BADAM GUL, SAYING:

"Forty eight of my oil tankers have been burnt due to an attack by insurgents.I tried to take them out of fire but the police didn't let me."

It remains unclear how the trucks were set ablaze in this parking lot just outside of Kabul.

But some Afghan media reports say insurgents fired rockets at the tankers late Friday.

This comes as Afghanistan prepares to announce preliminary results of the final round of a presidential election on Monday.

The Taliban had previously vowed to disrupt the election process, and are claiming responsibility for the attack.
