Thailand's military junta display tonnes of illegal ammunition and weapons

The haul includes nearly 2000 guns, more than 30,000 rounds of ammunition and 256 explosive devices.

They say the weapons were confiscated during the first few weeks since they seized power on May 22.

The junta also says it's issued an arrest warrant for Jakrapob Penkair, the executive secretary of a recently established opposition group

(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) DEPUTY COMMANDER OF METROPOLITAN POLICE DIVISION 1, POLICE COLONEL SONGPOL WATTANACHAI, SAYING:

"Jakrapob Penkair was one of the many people who are found to have been behind the (underground) movement and are involved with these weapons."

The opposition group, known as Free Thais for Human Rights and Democracy, says it opposes what it calls a "military dictatorship"

Jakrapob is currently living in self-imposed exile.
