World Cup inspires Brazilian songstress

It's an ode dedicated to soccer - this song by Brazilian singer Daniela Mercury is titled "Cheia de Graca", translating to "Full of Grace".

It speaks of soccer, dance and love, which run together with rhythm and fluidity at the center of the Brazilian soul, the singer explains.

"I believe that we play football the way we dance samba. In samba the beat is fluid. I perform abroad a lot and have seen most of the world. For example, in Germany the rhythm is hard on the beat. They go like this [she dances], like in electronic music. Here in Brazil it is the opposite [she does samba]. So it's inevitable that football players perform with this fluidity, controlling the tempo in their maneuvers."

But the popular songstress also takes her queue from forro, the Brazilian folk music from the northeast.
