Forget the Past. Everybody has to.
Its stinging, singing siren melodies
Are quicksand. It will swallow you.

Quicksand. It will swallow you
Half if not utterly up, so, do, please,
Forget the Past. Everybody has to.

For what was, was. Ahead of you,
Shimmering with maybe's and possibilities,
Lies the boro of what-might-be, so,

Forget the Past- tough enough to do
If colorful and pleasant, but a breeze
If less so, and, so, less so. Oh, though

Maybe there's few you'd cling to
In your vitrine of memories,
Most of them (admit it) you could let go.

Though the hours are brief and few
And the year bewilderingly flies,
Forget the Past- everybody has to.
Else, a quicksand, it will swallow you.
