Starting time: early afternoon
On sunday. no sleep for chuck who
Played til five a.m. in some
Lawton, oklahoma after-
Hours dive. still drunk when recording
Began...continued to drink
All thru our date. condition of
Course would deteriorate more
As the session progressed so
By late afternoon: on the ad-
Lib blues i will call 'all nite gig'
Chuck concludes his ride with this loud
Violent sound-blast, offensive
As a brawler's punch, swinging hard!
'I saw him strike the instrument
With tremendous force', a right hand
Assault with his straight pick raked
Across all ten open strings to
Belch this ugly summation of
The boozy blues licks heard slurred.
Of course it's full of distortion
And you'll never suffer a kick-
Ass steel chord rude as this one, see.
The last song, 'i love you because'
Spreads the sound of whiskey-saturated
Love. my hope long grown tired
On this sad and difficult day.
I thought my purpose defeated when
Just then, from his tortured steel...
At once i heard beyond the merely meant.
Only thru he i'd placed before me
Could so indiscreet a weeping note,
Broken as he (or a heart betrayed) ,
Grant all my misgivings their erasure.
