It was like all the light had drained from my soul -
I never knew you would have acted like that; I just thought
You’d say no.
My heart broke in two – I was shattered.
I just thought you might be flattered.
No more colour; just black and white,
I just thought, you, for me, was right.
I never planned to give you the letter,
I thought you’d handle it better.
You can’t help who you fall in love with,
I wish we could -
I just thought you understood.
Gone are the days you have to see me,
I just thought that you would see...
Nicola, nothing sinister or bad was meant,
I just adored the time we spent.
I wanted to hug you and call you my own,
To kiss you tenderly and talk on the phone.
You’re everything I dream of, but never can posses.
If I had of known, I would never have confessed.
I just thought... Maybe that was the problem...
I never thought at all.
