Jessica Lindsey - The Roses Died

It's funny how when it's come to an end,
When you're truly walking out the door,
While I'm too proud to stop you,
My heart and head are waging war
Screaming devotion and desire,
You infidel, you liar.
I'm frozen here, I cannot move
Chained to this cell, this bed, this room,
The Clock has stopped, or I don't care
And Life, I swear,
Has not been fair.
But maybe, then again, I'm wrong
A heart for a heart (an eye for an eye)
I wrap myself up in a song
That feels like it's about me,
I do not cry cause that is weakness
Which long ago made me strong.
And I know there are hearts breaking adjacently,
And worse than me,
Yet I can't see
How I will live this through.
