Bonfire night
Wood and boxes alight
Children's glee
All around to see.

Rockets fly
Colouring the sky
Eyes all skyward
Hear the crackle of the wood.

Against the black night
Colourful fireworks so bright
Children's squeals
Catherine wheels.

Night air so cold
Gathered around young and old
Stamping of feet, rubbing of hands
Holding glowing bands.

Ending the night
Child's eyes so bright
Walking home hand in hand
Tired eyes, sleep! The dream land.
