Lovey Canlas - Midnight Symphony

At the stillness of the night
I heard creatures sigh
Something like a sweetheart’s chant
For a mate to meet and love
A rendezvous at midnight

I do not want to sleep
And let my mind slip
I think it’s nice to heed
The enchanting music
May they be frogs or crickets

But it would be exciting
If they are beautiful fairies
With brilliant dust of pixies
To sprinkle away the sinister melancholy
And transform the creepy to cheery

My feet could not pretend
They are tickled by the sound
In haste I sneak out of my bed
To find out where’s the place
That entices me to peek

The chant that rouses my interest
From unknown mystery
The phenomenon I want to see
In spite the scary sight’s plea
A ghostly air outside my territory

Simply coming from a bunch of trees
Behind of our fence’s boundary
Here in this side of a forested county
A district where grasses and wild flowers flourish
And colorful butterflies and birds exist

Now I know why they choose to populate
This side of Mother Nature’s habitat
Because they enjoy the same melodic grunt
Of that engrossing ensemble in the dark
Which harmony grips my heart

Lovey Canlas
