Kicked a ball in the street
and over the local Park
pretended to be Bobby Charlton
still playing when it was dark.
Picked for the school team
felt Ten Feet tall
played out on the wing
liked dribbling with the ball.
Became a Football supporter
following my team home and away
stood with my mates on the terraces
we all met up on a Saturday.
Saw so many great players
Greaves, Law, Keegan, George Best,
'Bestie' was a Footballing genius
so much better than all the rest.
Been to all of the top grounds
watched my club win the Cup at Wembley
there to see Coventry win that day
and there still the only one for me.
So Football's the best game in the World
no other sport comes anywhere near
but the only downside these days
is that it's become ever so bloody dear!
