Schumacher’s head hit a rock buried underneath snow. He was hospitalized in Grenoble as a result and doctors opted to place him in a medically induced coma.
Now that he’s gained consciousness, Schumacher has been moved to Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland. His manager, Sabine Kehm confirmed he is out of the coma.
She remarked “The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes. We are sure it helped him. For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye.”
However, the fact that he is on the road to recovery is great news to fans. Schumacher retired from the racing world in 2012 but over the course of his nearly 20 year-long career, he won 7 world titles and 91 races, which is 40 more than any other driver in the sport.
