Life was so good just a few short years ago
And loneliness a thing I did not know
Until my husband Frank O Connell died
life has it's darker and it's brighter side.

I found life has it's laughter and it's tears
And our poor dog Bobby getting on in years
the feebleness of age on him did creep
And a few weeks back I had him put to sleep.

Though life goes on and nothing ever last
Our fondest memories can be of the past
But I'm an optimist and live in hope
And with life's setbacks I have learnt to cope.

I have good memories of the happier life
And I was lucky to be good man's wife
But we can't bring back the past the past is gone
And life goes on and I must carry on.

I know the good memories with me will stay
And happiness again I'll find one day
And I remember with a sense of joy
When we walked out with Bobby, Frank and I.
