Daniel Trevelyn Joseph - Mind

Like magic balls, words spring up
From nowhere, bouncing
From mysterious utter darkness inside;
Only after climbing above inner surface,
Do I become aware of them, they get noted:

From where did they spring to consciousness?
How were they selected rather than others?
Where were they lying not known to me?
Originals, or copies? Am stranger to myself?
Dreadful not to know what is inside me?

Do I have the choice to decide what should
Spring up? Which words, feelings, thoughts
Can arise from my own self?
In the unlit chambers of my mind,
Am I a prisoner to computer technology?

Presuming mind to be like the familiar computer
Will millions of storage cells, though not understood;
Of course, we are used to it everywhere
In the medicine or car, the phone or plane,
Principles I don’t understand, but use them.
