It was a cool summer night, and things were feeling right, and i stood with melting shadows hanging from my feet.
So I squared one away with the music on play, when I spotted two children, playing in the street
I said 'It's getting late and I know the sky is great but perhaps you should sight the stars in your dreams,
you see cuz as you grow old the world gets cold, and nothing is how it seems.'
They were either dumb or didn't care 'cuz they only returned a stare, except one of them blinked just twice
I said, 'Alright now kids, this is how it is, now I am through being nice.
No one will remember what you said, in the end, dead is dead, ' and thats when their stares turned to ice
They ran home crying, but i'm not lying, when i say my consience haunted like an art
But you know what they say: at the end of the day, the devil's just a man with a broken heart
