Change is in the air
Exemplified by a chill
A vaporous breath is expelled
Hopes for balmy days go downhill
The forecast is for flurries
Mindful thoughts concentrate
On slowing the inevitable
As intuitive birds migrate
What is left of summer’s warmth…
Only wisps of faint recollections
Caught up in a gust of wind
As numbing skin seeks protection
Retreating indoors to avoid freezing
Time for cuddling, cooking and crafts
Searching for cozy winter clothing
To insulate from penetrating drafts
