Ted Sheridan - Built a Shed Over the Tool

I remove my socks and toss
them into their designated corner
to be exiled along with all of my
other dirty laundry discards; so lucky
to have you cleaning up after me,
for I am truly a slob at heart.
Twenty six years and counting,
I know our marriage is stronger
than my most predominant weaknesses
and innermost desires.
To concede a victory to a chance encounter
with an attractive love
outside of our protected domain
is not even a consideration to me any longer.
I am so far beyond cheating, it is almost laughable.
Boxers or briefs, panties, bras or thongs; we
remain compatible regardless of what seemed at times
an almost relentless pressure to fail…
This world is full of infidelities,
pornographic stains and pecker tracks,
peep shows always cost the voyeur more than he can afford …
Our elastic waistbands have expanded
with the fat of time; levies been breached
and your once perfect double D cups have now
become more than just a handful.
But I still love you
If for no other reason than I don’t know how to do anything else
and you aren’t the type woman who complains….
