It’s that time of night again
The one my heart has been longing for all day long
We get to meet on that dance floor that is two thousand miles wide
Our eyes meet across the great expanse
I still feel those butterflies as we get ready to dance
Those first moments are awkward; how silly is that?
It’s like puppy love, like we don’t know what to do next
But as we settle in for the dance
We move together like life long lovers
Our souls are connected like shards from the lodestone
There is no need to lead
We both follow, instinctively knowing what the next moves will be
Synchronized and beautiful is the dance that we weave
Entrancing ourselves, moving ever closer each dance
Though we never touch, we dance cheek to cheek
Before we know it the lights are coming on
And the music is coming to an end
Another night full of the dance is over
And you are torn away from my embrace
I can only watch helplessly as half my heart and soul drift away
Take good care of them for me baby
And bring them with you next time we dance
As I walk away and search what’s left of my soul
I realize that I am taking half your heart and soul with me
And I am more complete than I have ever been before
A more cherished gift I will never receive
