I thank the lord, for what dreams may come,
And bestow their gifts on me.
In the land of dreams, there are no frowns,
And once again, I'm young and free.

I'm often on some distant shore,
Just fishing with my dad.
Just like it was long years before,
My eyes shine, no longer sad.

And mores the night, while in my dreams,
I see my sainted mother.
She's here with me again, or so it seems,
Caring for me like no other.

I thank the lord, for what dreams I dream,
While he smiles down on me.
I hear my folks so clear it seems,
That their faces I can see.

What dreams may come, lord I thank you,
When I can see loved ones again.
Though they disappear, with the morning dew,
For a short while, there was no pain..

This poem was written with the inspiration of the love of my life,
Elvira my wife.
