Mary Naylor - Fire!

When the hills blazed and ashes fell, mocking the snow,
When the city gasped at the ruby beast lashing and licking
at its homes and towers, I saw you - sweat streaked and
soot smeared - and I heard you hurl a curse at the flames,
and I felt fire! Burning within me, I felt ruby tongues of
Fire!

When sodden clouds entrapped the sky and rain gushed
'till the earth was shining wetness, I saw you rush past
glittering curtains of ivy. There was a crackle of thunder
and flare of lightening, and I felt fire! Inside me there
was fire! There were leaping fingers of emerald
Fire!

Now you stand before me, silhouetted in the blinding
sunlight, I look into your eyes, and I see fire! I see
black fire, eclipsing my world. Beloved, reach out and
touch me, and then, taste the fire of this kiss.
