Thanks to the Ambassador of Hungary, Istvan Szabo and his spouse Emelia, in collaboration with the Hungarian Oil Co, MOL and Serena Hotels, Tuesday evening saw a lucky crowd of diplomats; business persons and other culture vultures gather at the Serena Hotel to witness a rare, upbeat performance of Hungarian Folk Dance and Music — the first to be presented in Pakistan.
While showcasing this cultural treat the occasion was used to raise funds for a worthy cause — to provide sustainable water solutions for continuing drought conditions in the Thar area.
The event was held in the Shishmahal Hall where a stage had been erected with semi-circular seating and a backdrop appropriate to the programmee. Corporate Manager, Marketing and Communications, Muznah Umer was MC for the evening. Speaking on the occasion Ambassador Szabo thanked everyone who was involved in the process by name — including his wife — for helping the embassy in this worthy cause and giving a chance to showcase Hungarian culture in Pakistan, after which he introduced the ten member ensemble.
