David Harris - Practical Jokes And Jokers

Every life should have laughter,
at least one dose a day,
and everyone should be able to laugh
at themselves in some way.
I feel sad for all those
whom can't raise a smile,
and there are many I am afraid.

I am a practical joker
and I have my rules.
Rule one: Is no one should
get physically injured an anyway.
A dent in one's pride
or a little embarrassment
never hurt anyone at all.
Rule two: Only practical joke
those who can do one back to you
and don't take offence.

In my time I have played
many on my friends,
from invisible records to wombles,
toy computers to mermaids.
But always the joke
is my way of saying,
I happen to like you.
You never joke with your enemies
or persons who will take it the wrong way.

I like to bring a smile to everyone I meet.
Tears of laughter are my forte,
not the red eyes of hurt.
My jokes are a reward
of my friendship
and my outstretched caring hand
to help bring a smile a day.
