Not only do people miss the show, but many wonder why he would walk away from a TV deal worth millions of dollars. When Letterman asked why he left, Chappelle comically replied “Listen. Here it is. Technically, I never quit. I'm seven years late for work.”
Right after he walked away from the program, Chappelle basically went AWOL. He took a flight to South Africa, leaving fans believing he was addicted to drugs or in a mental health facility.
