I'm one of those blokes an addictive rhymer and one might say that I am hooked on rhyme
And many would see that as unproductive or in other words a simple waste of time
I've been penning verse since I was twenty seven and that was thirty four years ago
And I've written over six thousand and five hundred pieces yet for my efforts don't have much to show.

From an old quote 'a hungry belly game' is versifying and truer words than these have not been said
If I depended on verse for to feed me of malnutrition I would be long dead
Still in my brain the jingles keep on jingling and I'll be a rhymer till my dying day
And if I were one who yearned for fame and fortune I would give penning doggerel away.

This penning rhyme is an adictive habit and though rhyme and verse and such is hard to sell
For many years to rhyme I've been addicted you well might say it has me in it's spell
Back in my prime years when I was ambitious I had these dreams of fortune and renown
But when I moved south I left my dreams behind me in that green country side by Millstreet Town.

I'm one of those blokes an addictive rhymer and though from rhyme I do not stand to gain
I write because the lust for rhyme is in me and as an addictive rhymer I'll remain
And I'll be a rhymer till the reaper take me for the lust for rhyme in me remains quite strong
And I will always be a rhyming fellow for I have a great love for rhyme and song.
