They survived colonization and that's not an idle brag
We honour the people and honour their flag
The red, black and yellow flag that takes pride of place
In the hearts and the minds of Australia's first race
Their ancestors had lived in Australia for how long none does know
Anthropologists guess six hundred centuries or so
The children of the children of Australia's Dreamtime
Their legends and stories inspire song and rhyme
They've survived occupation that is a proud boast
To Australia's first people we should drink a toast
The first human caretakers of this Southern Land
Their love of their Country one can understand
From colonization sorrow was their gain
But as Australia's first people they will always remain.
