stealthily the lilly-pilly grows
quietly and gently and discreetly
in the warmth of the day
in the gentle embrace of the night;
the native puts forth its quiet tips
and dances its gentle growth
and the day after
as I turn at the corner in the garden
I see its new blushing leaves
