Gauzed sepia tones dress the room in warm mirth
With bauble knickknacks piled in jumbled throngs
Arrayed in rays of different colors and shapes
Whistling the sight of joy and yuletide pomp
Little wooden figurines of snowmen and elves
Wreath the plastic evergreen in the left corner window
That soars with majesty of mystic Joie de vivre
Into the center of the heart where all is young and old
Kitchen table tops littered with old-fashioned cartons
As Van Morrison croons from a CD player
The Televisions tuned to public access station
As we gather the garlands in lights and bead layers
Thinking of you all when I am by myself
No fireplace can replace the flame of a loving home
From handcrafted moments a lifetime can shape
Into those precious moments form memories of gold
Merry Christmas to you
