A police officer in Carver, Massachusetts is being hailed a hero by dog lovers.
Officer David Harriman jumped into the water after learning a dog was trapped inside a submerged vehicle. It all started when a 59-year-old woman, identified as Debra Titus drove her Toyota Tacoma pickup into a local body of water located on the grounds of a retirement community.
The truck was left submerged under approximately 8 feet of liquid. When cops arrived, Titus was out of the vehicle and one of her dogs managed to escape but her other pet was stuck inside the auto.
Harriman didn’t hesitate. He removed his gun belt and handed it off to another officer before diving into the water to save the canine. He swam to the truck, opened up the door and pulled the pooch out. While wearing his soaked uniform, he cradled the male dog before handing him back to Titus.
The brave cop later remarked “He wasn't moving at all when I first got to him, and then when I got him to the surface, he came to. He'd been under the water for quite some time…I have an 8-month-old English bulldog named Jax right now. I'd do anything I could for him.”
