Activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged protest on Friday in the federal capital as police baton charged them when they try to move towards Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office against what they called rigging in the last general election.
The PTI activists were holding placards and banners inscribed with ‘anti-government’ and ‘anti-Election Commission’ slogans. They chanted slogans against alleged rigging. The rally was attended by large number of PTI leaders and local workers.
When they wanted to move towards ECP offices police stopped them at overseas foundation by putting containers in the way.
Participants of the rally said they did not acknowledge mandate of the government. “Why government fears to hold re-counting in four constituencies,” they asked, adding that the situation will become clearer once re-polling was conducted. They threatened to use force if their demands were not met.
It is to be remind that PTI chief Imran Khan has announced to protest on every Friday in front of ECP on alleged rigging in 2013 general Election.
