Three people were arrested in the Russian capital during an unsanctioned gay pride protest in Moscow against laws recently passed by parliament criminalising the 'promotion' of homosexuality to minors. Police moved in to break up the protest, which proceeded without a permit, as the activists wielded pro-gay rights posters and calling for greater action from the authorities to counter violence and other abuse directed at children.

LGBT activists intended to hold a march of bearded men and women named Conchita Wurst, after the winner of the Eurovision song contest.
