A Pakistani woman killed for marrying against her families wishes was five months pregnant, a post-mortem revealed on Wednesday.
Farzana Bibi is said to have been stoned to death by relatives, including her father, outside a court in the city of Lahore on Tuesday in what appeared to be an ‘‘honour’‘ killing.
Police said her father had handed himself in but two brothers and a former fiance who took part in the attack were still at large.
The 30 year-old was engaged to her cousin but married another man and was forced to come to the Lahore court after the family registered a kidnapping case against her new husband.
So called honour killings are common in Pakistan, with many families believing it dishonourable for a woman to fall in love and choose her partner.
