He might be known for his hats and, more lately, his happiness, but Pharrell Williams is now looking to make his name in something a little more... feminine.

The former rapper and pop star has opened an exhibition in Paris, showcasing works of art celebrating feminity.

"I want to learn and to be able to collaborate with these artists and walk around in their spaces, you're walking around in their minds, that's, no university can offer you that."

Entitled 'G I R L' after William's album of the same name, it brings together 48 works in a formal ballroom at the Hotel du Grand Veneur in the French capital's Marais quarter.

The exhibition includes pieces artists including Tracey Emin, Takashi Murakami, Andy Warhol and Daniel Arsham.

Williams himself caused controversy last year with the nudity-filled video for his hit song with Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines".
