STORY: European Parliament President Martin Schulz, who is a center-left's candidate to lead the European Commission, visited flood stricken areas in Croatia on Friday.
Accompanied by the Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, Schulz was briefed by the relief workers about the extent of the damage after the worst flooding for over a century hit the region last week.
The river Sava, which forms the border between Croatia and Bosnia, last week burst its banks flooding towns and cutting power to tens of thousands of homes in the region.
A number of towns and villages were affected, including the village of Gunja which lies on the very border and in which virtually all houses were damaged by flood waters.
