Karl Lagerfeld likes Chanel's cruise collections to be shown against a decadent, exotic backdrop. This year's location is the glitziest yet: a manmade island off the coast of Dubai, fitting for the jet set fashionistas.
Karl Lagerfeld has chosen the Emirates destination as the place to showcase the French fashion house's next Cruise collection in May, according to WWD, who also point out that the temperature at the time will be around 100 degrees.
The designer is known for picking extravagant backdrops for his runway shows, and his next project is no exception.
The show is set to take place on an island less than half a mile off the coast of the futuristic looking Dubai. "The Island," as it's known, is located off of Jumeirah Beach Road.
As for the runway presentation, guests will be treated to a partly indoors, partly outdoors show starting at 6 p.m., just in time to view the Chanel looks and the city's skyline during sunset.
"Chanel is very pleased to present its 2014-15 Cruise collection in Dubai," Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel said in a statement.
"In addition to being a key hub for our fashion business in the Middle East, Dubai was chosen because it inspires travel and evokes the true spirit of Cruise. The show that we will hold in this city on May 13, in the presence of Karl Lagerfeld, will be a unique event that will feed the public's imagination around our brand."
