Celebrity mansions are all too often targets for criminals. George Clooney is the latest celebrity to become the victim of a crime and it is nothing short of bizarre.
Recently, Clooney’s Lake Como villa in Italy was targeted by a 29-year-old Romanian intruder, who seemingly only wanted one thing – wine.
Instead of sneaking into the main house, the suspect reportedly went straight towards the wine cellar, located in the garden. After taking one bottle of wine, he then allegedly tried to enter the residence.
A member of Clooney’s staff spotted the man and contacted police. Cops immediately responded to the home and found the male. He threatened the officers with the bottle but was soon overpowered and taken into custody.
The suspect is now facing a charge of theft. Clooney was not home at the time of the incident. 52-year-old Clooney is said to be vacationing with his new fiancée, 36-year-old Amal Alamuddin.
According to reports, the couple’s wedding is scheduled to take place sometime this September. Rumor has it the pair will host the upcoming ceremony at his Lake Como villa.
