In Xinjiang, cleaning up after blasts killed 31 people and injured 94.

(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) Urumqui resident Mrs. Wang saying:

"When I came here this morning, I was not allowed in. They kept washing blood off the floor."

Explosives were reportedly hurled from two vehicles as they ploughed into shoppers at a local market in Urumqi.

Stepped-up security after the attack authorities are calling a "serious violent terrorist incident"

China has blamed a series of attacks in recent months on separatist militants from the region, which is a traditional home of the Ethnic Muslim Uighurs.
