One mom in Deltona, Florida is now rejoicing after being reunited with her daughter after four long years.

The ordeal started in 2009. It was then that the mother, Jodie Borchert, dropped off her child Cara Cox at her father, Aaron Cox’s house. What Jodie didn’t know at the time was that Aaron was ready to flee the country with Cara.

He followed through with that plan and abducted his daughter. Jodie was left in the dark for years.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office had opened an investigation into the case and researched leads but never got anywhere.

"We have gotten tips over the years, possible sightings. For instance, in California, a couple of times. But those tips just never panned out." [ABC]

That is until recently, when cops received a tip that father and daughter were staying in a remote area of Mexico.

Detectives got help from Mexican authorities and eventually located and subsequently arrested Aaron. He and Cara had been living under assumed names while in Mexico.

Police recovered Cara, who was soon flown to Miami where she was finally reunited with her mom. Since that recent reunion, Cara turned 13 and spent her first birthday with her mother in five years.
