Of course, relocating any animal that is comparable in size to an elephant isn’t easy and photos that are currently circulating online show how the process works.

Relocating an elephant is no small feat and recent photos circulating online show just how the complex the process is.

Heavy equipment was needed to lift and carry it. The images making the rounds on Facebook show a crane slowly hoisting the tranquilized elephant by its feet to a flat bed truck.

Although it looks terrifying, that’s the routine procedure when an elephant has to be moved to any location outside of walking distance.

The images were captured by the Zambia Wildlife Authority. The animal was being moved to the Kafue National Park in Zambia.

The featured elephant is said to be about 20 years old, weighing about 3 tons. A crew had tracked the animal with a helicopter and then darted it with a tranquilizer prior to lifting the elephant with the crane.

It made the journey to Kafue National Park without problems and was reportedly released on the property where it joined other elephants.
