ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed Tuesday (May 13) that U.S. surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft are aiding in the search in Nigeria for the more than 200 missing female students kidnapped last month from a boarding school.
Militant group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility and said it will only free the girls if the Nigerian government releases some jailed militants.
Carney said the United States is not the lead in the Nigerian search, but stressed that American officials don't support giving ransoms or other concessions to militants.
