A years old tribal feud in a village in Larkana has taken an extreme shape as the opponent groups establish barricades in schools, forcing students to take up arms, Dunya News reported.
According to reports, Larkana’s village called Arz Muhammad Dhani is affected by tribal clash for years. As many as 24 persons have been killed in an armed battle between Dhani and Sadhaya tribes.
The spark of animosity and vengeance still prevails even after that many casualties and years of dispute. Reportedly, both groups have invaded village’s primary school and established barricades and battle fronts in there.
The students who are supposed to carry books and enter the school for learning are now forced to take up arms and join their respective tribes in the battle that could turn uglier.
The lack of response from authorities to timely handle the conflict is startling and brings up many questions about rule of law in societies that have deep rooted tribalism and have little to no regards for the law.
Rural areas in Pakistan are largely influenced by the tribal traditions. The Baradari (brotherhood) system that is based on caste and tribes largely prevails in these areas.
