An Australian man recently required the help of police after climbing and subsequently getting stuck on the exterior of Sydney’s Opera House.

The male, who was reportedly showing signs of intoxication, had scaled one of the building's sails. According to a witness, he repeatedly walked up and down the sail while holding a can and smoking a cigarette.

Law enforcement soon responded to the scene to see what was going on and assist in the efforts to help the man. At first, the male wasn’t willing to come down on his own, despite the dangerous predicament he was in.

The man reportedly yelled and screamed, so police spent about an hour negotiating with him in an effort to get him safely down. At about 4 in the afternoon, the man finally decided to give up the fight and take the help.

With a harness and rope, police and rescue teams were able to pull him off the sail and down to ground level. It’s not known if the male was arrested for his stunt.

Security staffers weren’t quite sure how he managed to scale the building.
